Assignments and exams
Adding a template and questions
In this step you upload a blank copy of the assignment/exam. AI extracts the questions automatically and prepares suggested points and grading criteria (rubric) for each one. You can review and edit these as needed.
Overview of the step
- Upload files. Import an image (JPG/PNG) or PDF template of the question paper.
- AI analysis. The system automatically extracts questions, sub-questions, and suggested points.
- Review questions. Edit each question's title, points, and grading criteria as needed; add a new question if required.
- Continue to the next step. Move on to marking page regions.
Why is a template required?
Step 1 — Upload files
The first wizard step is to upload the question paper as an image and/or PDF. The left card is for images (JPG, JPEG, PNG; max 10 MB); the right card is for PDFs (max 100 MB).

- The image card is for a scanned or photographed copy of the paper; it is the best choice for a single page.
- The PDF card is for multi-page documents. You can fill both cards at the same time.
- Select and Continue becomes active once at least one file is uploaded and takes you to step 02.
- The vertical icons on the left are wizard shortcuts; they get green check badges as you progress.
AI question analysis
After files are uploaded, the system automatically analyzes the template and starts extracting questions. This can take a few minutes; a small 'Template analysis started' notification appears in the top right.

- Until analysis finishes, the right panel shows *"Processing questions"* and a spinner.
- If you do not want to wait, Cancel and do it manually at the bottom left stops the analysis so you can add questions by hand.
- Question boundaries become visible on the paper preview on the left after scanning; use the zoom buttons at the bottom to zoom in.
Questions and point distribution
When analysis finishes, a collapsed card appears on the right for each question. Each row shows the question title and suggested points; the total is summarized at the top.

- The points badge next to each question shows its weight. The total is calculated automatically.
- The + button in the top right adds a new question to the list; you can add one by hand if AI skipped a question.
- Clicking a question shows its grading criteria.
- Re-analyze with AI at the bottom left runs AI again if the list has issues. This can overwrite your manual edits.
Question-level criteria
Clicking a question lists the grading criteria (rubric) AI prepared for it. Each criterion has its own points and is used directly during automatic grading when you add or remove them.

- Criterion: Describes a specific answer case ("Correctly explaining the reasoning", "Blank or irrelevant answer", and similar) and sets its points.
- Multiple criteria on the same question can share the same points; they are evaluated independently — if one is not selected, another can be. For questions that need a numeric answer, typical stepped criteria include *correct answer*, *correct reasoning*, and *answer only, no reasoning*.
- Create group gathers selected criteria so that multiple-choice style cases (for example, "Which of the following is correct") allow only one selection from the group.
- Add criterion opens a new criterion row; use the three-dot menu on the right of a row to delete it. The same actions are available under every question.
- The question title, description, and total points are at the top; changing the points updates the overall total automatically.
- Short, clear criteria produce more consistent automatic grading; prefer several small criteria over one long, broad one.
Completing the step
When all questions and criteria are ready, click Question adding complete, next step at the bottom right. The system takes you toMarking page regions.
