4. Start automatic grading

When scans are ready, run Notla's AI grading. Selecting all questions and starting with the default settings is usually enough.

Open from the questions list

You reach the automatic grader from the question list on the Grade Papers page. The Automatic Grading link at the top right opens AI grading settings and the run screen for the selected assignment/exam.

  • Use the Automatic Grading link at the top right to open the AI run screen.

Select questions and start

On the automatic grading screen, check the questions to grade. If all questions are ready, use Select All and start the process with the green run button.

Lower half of the same page; under 'Select Questions to Autograde', Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4 are checked, each with a 'Not started' badge; 'Select All / Deselect All' links on the right; green 'Rerun Automatic Grading (6 Questions)' button at the bottom right; 'Save Settings' at the bottom left.
Question selection list for automatic grading
  • The Select All and Deselect All links apply a bulk selection.
  • Status badges show whether the question has been processed before: Not started, In progress, or Completed.
  • You can save custom instructions and a confidence threshold if needed; default settings are enough for a short flow.
  • Rerun Automatic Grading (N Questions) processes the selected questions and prepares results for review.
  • When the run finishes, review low-confidence answers and approve the questions.
